The Housemaid's Secret
I was a little nervous going into this one, but it actually surprised me in a good way. It keeps that same tense, uncomfortable vibe from the first book, but it digs deeper into Millie as a character instead of just throwing her into another situation for shock value.
The suspense is still there the whole time. You’re constantly waiting for something to go wrong, and that uneasy feeling never really lets up. What I liked most is that the twists didn’t feel random or overdone. They made sense based on what we already know, which made them more satisfying.
Millie feels more layered here. You understand her better, her choices feel heavier, and the emotional tension hits a little harder because you’re already invested in her. It didn’t feel like a copy paste of the first book, which I appreciated.
Overall, it’s a solid continuation. If you liked The Housemaid and wanted more without the story losing its focus, this one delivers. It raises the stakes just enough to keep you hooked without going off the rails.
