Wretched

So if you already love dark fairytale retellings, this one is very much in your lane. Wretched takes a familiar story and strips all the sweetness out of it. What you’re left with is something darker, heavier, and way more morally questionable, which is honestly why I enjoyed it.

This isn’t a soft romance at all. The MMC is messed up, the choices are bad on purpose, and the relationship feels more dangerous than comforting. But that’s the point. If you like your romances a little toxic, full of tension, and leaning villain instead of hero, it works.

What stood out to me is the vibe. It’s broody and intense, and it doesn’t try to make everyone likable. I didn’t agree with every decision, but I stayed invested because I needed to see how far it would go. That slow unraveling is what kept me turning pages.

I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re looking for something light or romantic in a traditional sense. But if you like dark retellings that twist familiar stories into something edgy and uncomfortable, Wretched is a solid pick. It definitely scratched that dark fairytale itch for me.
