Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Absolutely keep going. Chamber of Secrets is where things start getting a little darker, but it still keeps that magical, cozy Hogwarts feeling that makes the series so special.

This one leans more into mystery and fear. Something creepy is happening at the school, people are getting attacked, and no one really knows who or what is behind it. It’s still fun to read, but there’s this underlying tension that wasn’t really there in the first book.

What I love about it is the message underneath everything. The book spends a lot of time on the idea of who you are versus who people think you are. Harry gets questioned a lot here, and it forces him to decide what kind of person he wants to be, not what others expect him to be.

It’s definitely a bridge book. Not as light as the first one, not as heavy as what’s coming later, but you can feel the series starting to grow up. As a fan, this is the book where I realized the story was going to be more than just magic and spells.
