Home Is Where the Bodies Are
This one just wasn’t for me. I went in expecting a tense, emotional thriller, but I found it really wordy and slow to get through. A lot of time is spent in the characters’ heads, and while I get what the book was trying to do emotionally, it started to drag for me.
I stuck with it hoping the reveal would make it all worth it, but the twist ended up feeling pretty dull after all that buildup. Instead of being shocked, I was more like oh… okay. The emotional weight didn’t hit the way I wanted it to, and the suspense never fully paid off.
It’s not badly written, and I can see how some readers might connect with the themes around family and grief, but for me it was a lot of words for not enough payoff. Definitely one I was relieved to be done with rather than thinking about afterward.
