Little Stranger is one of those audiobooks where you know it’s wrong, you know it’s uncomfortable, and yet you are fully locked in anyway. I went in curious and came out like okay… that was a lot, but I couldn’t stop listening.

This story lives in obsession. Not the cute kind. The unsettling kind. The tension is thick and psychological, and it just sits there simmering the entire time. There’s always this feeling that something is off, but instead of pulling back, I leaned all the way in. If you’re going to read something taboo, this book commits.

Now let’s talk about Malachi, because wow. And more importantly, Joe Arden absolutely carried this audiobook. His voice made Malachi even more intense, more disturbing, and somehow hotter at the same time. The delivery is calm, controlled, and quietly unhinged, which honestly made the spice hit harder than it probably should have. I was sitting there like sir… please relax, while also not wanting him to.
The spice is heavy, but it’s wrapped in tension and obsession rather than romance. It’s uncomfortable on purpose, and the audiobook makes that impossible to ignore. You’re not meant to feel safe here. You’re meant to feel pulled, conflicted, and a little shaken.

This is definitely a love it or hate it kind of book. It will not work for everyone, and that’s kind of the point. If you’re sensitive to taboo themes, check your triggers. But if you like dark romance that pushes boundaries and an audiobook narrator who commits fully to the role, Little Stranger will absolutely get under your skin.
