Pen Pal
Pen Pal is one of those books where you go in thinking you know what kind of story you’re getting… and then it completely flips the script. I was intrigued pretty quickly, but as things started unraveling, I realized this was not a normal romance and definitely not something you can read on autopilot.
The story has this slow, eerie build that keeps you uneasy the whole time. The letters, the timing, the emotional pull of it all felt romantic at first, but there’s always something slightly off. I kept telling myself okay this is sweet but also… why am I nervous?
And then the reveal happens. And listen. I did not see it coming. At all. It’s one of those twists that makes you sit there for a second and replay everything in your head like wait… WHAT. Suddenly so many little details make sense in a way that’s both clever and kind of haunting.
It’s emotional, unsettling, and surprisingly heavy in places. Not a comfort read, but definitely a memorable one. If you like romances with a dark edge, unexpected twists, and endings that stick with you long after you close the book, Pen Pal is absolutely worth picking up.
