The Boyfriend
This book is the kind of thriller that makes you uncomfortable in a quiet way. Nothing huge or flashy is happening at first, but little things start feeling off, and that uneasy feeling just keeps growing. It’s all about subtle behavior changes, the stuff you can’t quite put your finger on but know isn’t right.
What really works is how it plays with trust. You keep thinking someone is safe or well meaning, and then something small happens that makes you second guess everything. I found myself constantly questioning people’s motives and wishing the main character would listen to her instincts sooner.
It’s fast paced and easy to fly through, but it still manages to feel tense the whole time. When the reveals start coming, they’re surprising without feeling ridiculous, and honestly a little too believable, which made it creepier.
If you like thrillers that rely more on atmosphere and that nagging gut feeling instead of nonstop action, this one is a solid pick. It’s quick, unsettling, and definitely reinforces the idea that if something feels wrong, it probably is.
